August 29, 2008 : Ask DST Q&A #4

Hi folks! Since this is a five-Friday month I do not have a planned topic to cover, so I‘ll do a few miscellaneous questions. Next week (9/5) we’ll do Star Trek, followed by Minimates (9/12). We’ll do Battlestar Galactica & Stargate on 9/19 and then we’ll finish up with Marvel & Star Wars on 9/26. I hope you folks are having some fun with these and keep those questions coming. After all its not much of a Q&A without the questions.

John Jordan: I just ordered and received waves 1 through 3 of the DC Minimates. They are terrific, unfortunately the wave 1 green lantern figure came broken in two places. The right arm is broken at the socket and where the torso meets the legs is broken such that the bottom half won’t stay connected to the top half. The other half of the pair, star saphire is fine. I wanted to see if there was anyway to get just the green lantern figure replaced. I’d appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me. Thanks.

DSTChuck: John I am very sorry but DST does not handle the customer service for the DC line. For that you have to check in with the folks over at DC Direct. DST / AA just handles the design and oversees the manufacturing for DC Minimates…

Ian Friend: Hi, Any chance of a Captain Britain figure in Marvel Select, based on the new Captain Britain MI:13 book? Thanks!

DSTChuck: We have considered Captain Britain for Minimates, but no plans right now to add him to the Marvel Select roster, sorry.

Chris Hallett: As an avid G1 Transformers fan, first of all I would like to applaud you for making some of the less made characters in the transformers universe. Just along this vein, would you be able to tell if you will making fan favourites such as Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Brawn or Hound in 2009? Thanks and keep up the fantastic work!

DSTChuck: Chris, I am sorry but we’ve really not gotten that far in planning our 09 line up. We’re not sure where we are going past Galvatron.

Ryan Morriss: What happened to the user bulletin site? The forums were great for discussions on products, and how much we hate Diamond Select. If there is a link to this bulletin board, I have no idea where it would be, because I would like to connect with a couple of the users again. Ryan

DSTChuck: Ryan I am sorry but as I mentioned in the earlier Q&A the forum has been taken down and will not be returning. There are many places on the web you can go to discuss DST and we think a free forum (non-company sponsored) is a better way for the fans to discuss our product.

Sam Huza: The blog last week said “They’re finally here,” but Battlestar Galactica series 2 doesn’t seem to have hit stores yet, and once again, they’re not on the Diamond shipping lists for this week. Where are these figures, and when are they finally going to be released.

DSTChuck: Sam, I am sorry but it seems there was a small warehouse issue at the time that was written and some areas of the country did not have their figures yet. That has been taken care of now and plenty of BSG product should be out there.

Ryan Dick: Love your work, especially Minimates! If you still have the rights, could you please, please PLEASE make more Street Fighter Minis? PLEEEEASE? Even if you only do limited runs for online sale only, I’m sure you’d be making A LOT of people happy. My heart yearns for a little, tiny Blanka! Thank you.

DSTChuck: I am very sorry and while we usually like to say “Never say Never” this pretty much falls under the never going to happen category. The level of retail support we needed was just not there.
