: Spending some Quality Time with Matt and his friend, the Creepy 4ft. Angel Puppet

There is nothing better in the world, then spending some quality time in close quarters with Matt and the Angel Puppet. Especially when the room is a 10ft x 10ft photo studio and Matt refuses to stop pretending Angel is alive. Alive and biting my arm…

But we got some great animated shots of Angel ‘Pissed’ or Angel ‘Realizing his nose is detached!’ before I had to restrain myself from attacking Angel in retribution.

August 13, 2008 : Curse You Ultra Magnus

Why is it every time I hear the name Ultra Magnus I think of Mucus, they should call him Ultra Mucus. So I worked on getting him all ready to hit previews today. I have done so many of these ads that it doesn’t take much time at all. Unless…. Unless he is in San Diego and your boss took the pictures, and he has never worked on Transformers before and didn’t shoot any of the poses you needed. I spent some time trying to figure out how to get the ad to look just like the others when indeed I did not have all the shots I needed. I always shoot the transformers starting from the front and rotating one eighth the way around and shooting again, and so on until I make my way back around to the front, each ad contains about four shots, and each box contains about 6-7 different shots. It will be fine and I doubt if anyone will even notice, maybe DST Robert, but the fans more than likely won’t mind so much.

Keep an eye out for Ultra Magnus, he’s pretty Bad-ass,

From the tired fingers of,

DST Jen

August 12, 2008 : One More Day…

Dear Readers,

Everyone who was cool enough to get to go San Diego will be back tomorrow, I have missed them all dearly… Who am I kidding, it was nice and quiet here and I can’t complain too much. Today was a whirlwind of more packing for our move, getting Transformers packaging done and anticipating what DST Chuck is bringing me back from the Con!

If you’re interested in the Transformers box that was almost finished today, it was the three-piece Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreak Toy Rocket exclusives. There are three Transformers that will all share one box, they get stickers so you know which one you’re getting. Otherwise I think I’m going to work on Elita-One tomorrow.

Sar Ya!

August 8, 2008 : Thank God it’s Friday!

Dear Readers,

WOO HOO For Fridays! With everyone in San Diego for the Con it’s a special Friday to say the least. We will all go out and have a “I had to stay in Baltimore” lunch at Damon’s. Today I spent most of my time getting together the Darth Vader Bank Ad. I thinks it’s cool we are doing banks, I always remember loving to put money in my banks as a kid so I will for sure get on of these strictly for nostalgic reasons. Look for the new Vader Bust bank to hit previews next month, he’s using his force death grip in this pose so when you turn to that page you should start to feel your air ways closing up (insert evil laugh here). See you readers next week for more fun!

I am your Father Bust Bank,

Jen

: Ask DST Q&A #1

Andrew Lehtola:  With the Medical Tricorder being released this year, is there any possibility of the medical scanner being produced separately, or even (Dare I even say it?!) a TOS medical kit with hypo produced?

DSTChuck: We plan to include the scanner with the Medical Tricorder.  A different scanner will be included with the Science Tricorders, but no plans for the hypo as of now.  Sorry.

: Acing the Ace of Cakes

We’ve all seen the show.  A bunch of crazy artists loving their job, meeting insane deadlines and using entertaining problem solving techniques to complete the task by the skin of their teeth

Their weekly antics on the Food Network were enjoyable to watch and yet strangely familiar.  One can say that they were making psycho cakes for crazy connoisseurs.

When I first watched the show I never ever thought we would ever have the chance to work on product for the show.
