What will be involved with the Star Trek TOS Electronic Tribble mentioned in the latest ship dates update? If it’s what I think it is, it sounds like a lot of fun
DSTChuck: Martin, the Tribble will have sound and motion. When you first pick it up it will shake slightly and purr after 5 seconds or more shaking it will “scream” and shake more violently, as if a Klingon had picked it up. It has been a ton of fun for everyone here to work on.

Any chance of a Quark sculpt to round out the main cast of DS9? 2. Also, a Defiant for the ships line?
DSTChuck: We know how important Quark is to DS9 and we’d love to figure a way to get one out so don’t give up yet…For the Defiant, I don’t think it’s a secret that its been on our short list but I can say now that we’re settled on the next TWO ships and the Defiant was not chosen. Sorry, but I’m sure it will be the top of the list after that.

When the Kirk w/ Electronic Command Chair is released will the insignia be lower than the original Kirk w/ Chair, which was up near the neck & shoulder instead of the chest where it should have been ? (nitpicky and nerdy question I realize but important to my enjoyment)
DSTChuck: We’ve actually looked at some of the insignia for the TOS figure and would like to adjust their placement if we ever did them again, honestly I’m not sure we’ll be able to do it with Kirk.

Hey all you Asylum inmates! I have a question on a star trek figure that has a little problem. I have the first few sets of Enterprise and Nemesis figures you put out including Malcolm Reed with the broken bow bridge set. I haven’t opened it until now and my son is 6 and starting to really get into Star Trek and so I thought it would be fun to open the 3 existing bridge set and put them together.( I’m STILL WAITING on that fourth set… it’s the most important you know…it’s the helm control!! how can you drive the Enterprise without THAT?! When are you going to make that set?!?!?!) ANYHOO…I also have a 2 year old daughter that when dad was gone and brother was playing but not watching her, she got hold of old Malcolm and POPPED his head off!! What would you suggest using to repair it? it broke in the middle of the peg right where it goes into his shoulders inside the collar. What would be the best glue to use? think i can glue the peg? should I pry the body apart some how and try to fix with a screw or something? my wife had it glue to the rubber collar when i got home but i was concerned how it was attached so she proceeded to pull it off again. She glue with a vinyl cement so i guess it was ok for the rubber, but i tried to clean most of it off so i could try to attach it straight to the peg. PLEASE help me figure out what to do!!! btw….Malcolm looks kinda packed down in the privates area, somewhat more than most action figures…was that intentional? true to life? lol! just curious….
DSTChuck: OK umm where to start…Right now we have no plans to make the helm piece from Enterprise. Sorry about the head on Reed. Your best bet is get a box cutter blade and gid rid of as much glue as you can then re-glue it with Loctite Superglue in the area you want and hold it for 10 seconds. It will look fine but it won’t hold up to kid play, there is nothing that can be done for that.

Hey there. How many Kirk variants do you want to throw at us? This is a huge waste of plastic, you know… people would rather prefer to buy other characters! You talked about movie two-packs. Does this include the TNG movies? What about some TNG era TREK TEK? Btw. I miss the forum. Greets
DSTChuck: Honestly while it would seem that the Trek world is suffering from Kirk overload, every time we do something with Kirk it always sells better then anything without Kirk. He’s just that popular. We’re going to keep going with the movie 2 packs until sales slow down so there is every chance we could get all the way to the TNG movies, we’d certainly like to.

Hey DST, thanks for answering my question last time, hope you keep this up - awesome feature!!!
i have a few questions: 1) Will you be re-releasing the classic Art Asylum Star Trek figures in honor of the new movie out next may 2) would we see some new additions with new body’s and head sculpts such as Janice Rand and Nurse Chapel and as the AA figures came with a coin, would you be willing to re-introduce these and perhaps a collectors album to put them in, i know that these quirky items featured in other lines such as Hasbro’s Indie and Wars lines is very popular. 3) Is it beyond possibility that we could see some of the TOS AA figures they never produced like the Salt Vampire?
DSTChuck: There is always a chance we’ll bring some of those figures back but I can’t say we’ve decided one way or another yet. If we eve do another pure wave of TOS figures, Rand and Chapel are at the TOP of our list for sure. We have no plans to bring the AA coins back, sorry. We’ve talked about the Salt Vampire from time to time so he’s still being considered but that’s about as far as it’s ever gotten.

It was said in the last Q&A that DST wants to release one ship per year. Would this also be true for Trek Tek? If so, I would like you to consider doing the Star Trek 5 & 6 assault phaser. I know it is a much sought after prop and I for one would love to see what DST and AA would do for their own release of this great piece. I’d like to also thank you for planning the TWOK phaser. I am extremely excited about this release and can’t wait for it. Just one question, though: The pic of the TWOK phaser on the DST site has an odd hybridized trigger. it seems to have the contoured of the trigger from the TMP hero prop, but also has the nubby trigger from the TWOK hero sticking out of the contoured trigger. Is that how the final release will look as well? Thank you for your time and thank you very much for all your work and effort. It is much appreciated. I look forward to seeing what other great things you have in store for us in the future.
DSTChuck: While I’m not AS sure about the roll-play I’d say YES we’d like to do one a year for those as well. I think the Assault phaser is something we’d consider but I can tell you it will not be the next piece we do. The TWOK phaser is still being worked on but what I can tell you is the phaser that has been shown is just the prototype so changes will be made. Glad you’re liking the stuff though, we’ll do our best to keep it up.

Are there any plans to continue making figures from Wrath of Khan? I would really like to see a Captain Terrel/Chekov in environmental spacesuits 2-pack. The sculpts could even be used to accommodate ST:TMP versions of Spock and Kirk in thruster suits. Also how about a Ceti Alpha V Khan with turbin and visor along with Joachim? Will we get Saavik and Bones in their away team jackets to go with Kirk? How about a Scotty in white engineering suit? And finally, will we ever see the U.S.S. Reliant produced as a scaled ship? I have been wanting one of these since 1982.
DSTChuck: We’re going to see how TWOK series 2 does for retailers and if it does well we’d love to come back and do a third series! We’ve talked about the Reliant for sure and I’d say its in our top 5 but we’ll have to see.

I have the Star Trek Original Series Communicator and Phaser (Love them to bits), and read on pre-order pages for the Wrath Of Khan Phaser that there will be voice clips. What is the nature of these? Also, will there be a Wrath Of Khan Communicator and Tricorder to accompany this phaser?
DSTChuck: The voice part of that is an error, it will have lights and sounds like the other phaser. I don’t think we’ve decided to go past the phaser BUT maybe…

Is true that Diamond Select Toys will be making a life-sized Star Trek: TOS captains chair? If so can you give any more details? From TREKMOVIE.COM: Diamond Select making life-size captain’s chair Possibly the most surprising bit of product news in a long time was the Vegas announcement that Diamond Select Toys will be making a life-sized version of the Original Series captain’s chair. The chair will be a sturdy piece of furniture complete with lights, buttons and sounds. It will be available in 2009 and pricing is expected to be over $1000. CBS showed off a picture of a prototype and it looked just right, we are trying to get a copy from DST.
DSTChuck: Its TRUE we are going to be producing the chair and while it will be quite expensive its just too early to pin down and exact price or ship date, sorry.

Any Plans in the near future of making an Enterprise B and/or Enterprise C?and let’s not forget Voyager.
DSTChuck: I would have to say that the B & C are not in our top 5 of ship we are considering, sorry.
Kody Belshe
Hello, I wanted to first thank you for your involvement in the Trek franchise. I discovered ArtAsylum/Diamond Select Toys early last year, and when I saw the work your company had done with Star Trek, I was thrilled at what had been done, and the prospects of what was hopefully to come. I have spent the past year and a half trying to play catch-up with purchasing your Star Trek TOS/TNG/DS9 merchandise, and have also done my best to help turn others on to your Star Trek merchandise as well. My questions is this: So far, we have seen TOS, TNG, and now DS9 as part of your portfolio. I was thrilled when DS9 figures started to be released, since it means the next step will hopefully be Star Trek Voyager. Voyager is by far my all-time favorite series, and I can barely contain my excitement that the cast of the series will be given the same awesome treatment as you have the other series. Can you give us any indication as to when we might start to see the Voyager crew? Thanks!
DSTChuck: Kody welcome aboard! Luckily our ship dates are running behind so you have more time to catch up. Sorry to say on Voyager though that I think the chances are pretty slim that we’ll be able to give the show a full crew treatment. We do plan on doing some Voyager figures but just not the whole crew BUT I guess you never know.
Steven Milton
Any plans for classic Star Trek action figures of Christine Chapel and/or Janice Rand?
DSTChuck: If we do another wave of TOS figures they will be STRONLY considered.
Chris Hartley
Hi, I was wondering if there was any chance that you might touch on the 24th century in your Trek Tec line. Perhaps a boomerang Phaser, or a Deep Space Nine Tricorder? Thanks
DSTChuck: If I had to be pinned down to give an answer I’d say I don’t think so.
Joe Fratanduono
Hi, I see that you are re-releasing the Star Trek play set. Do you have any plans on re-releasing any of the other Mego play sets from the 1970’s? Thanks, Joe
DSTChuck: Joe I think right now we have our hands pretty full with the Trek set so we’re really not looking past that at this time.
Chris Hedges
Hi! First and formost, the ships you’ve made for the Star Trek line are AWESOME!!! I have the NX-01 Enterprise, and the NCC-1701A Enterprise that was made by this company a few years ago and the detail is phenomenal. Anywho, on with my real reason for this message…. Are you gonna make the USS Voyager from the TV Series, Star Trek: Voyager? I can just imagine how awesome it would look (and sound if you add that to it as well) if it was made by Art Asylum!!! I would happily buy one as well!!! Thank you for your time and have a nice day!
DSTChuck: I don’t think the Voyager is one that we’re going to be able to get to, sorry. Never say Never though.
Richard DeRosa
I must say I love your guys’ Star Trek products, in particular your ships and accesories. With that a$$ kissing out of the way, I would like to make a request. I’d like to see a reissue of the classic TOS Enterprise with all the weathering, rust ring, light green streaks, etc. I think that would sell well and only require a repaint. Thank you, Richard
DSTChuck: We still have a pretty good stock on the Enterprise but if that runs down and we make more that’s certainly something we could consider.
William Kesmarki
Great job! You guys have the best selection of figures and Star Trek props second to none. Keep up the good work. P.S. To go along with the Starship line, are there any plans to release a version of the Star Trek Voyager? Also we need to give the bad guys a break. How about a classic version of the Star Trek TOS Klingon battle cruiser? The Next Generation Romulan warbird or Klingon Vor-cha attack cruiser. Back to the Klingons. No one except AMT (theirs wasn’t very detailed) has released the movie versions of the Klingon battle cruiser as seen in ST: The Motion Picture or ST:The Undiscovered Country. Thanks.
DSTChuck: As I said in an earlier question I think Voyager is a long shot but I know we’d love to get a bad guy done before its all said and done.

Star Trek is a global brand - your recent DVD free figure exclusive Captain Geordi will only be available to the US - and whilst it’s not impossible to get this figure from the UK, it’s still unnecessary as we too have DVD stores such as HMV, Zavvi and many more. do you think that part of the problem with Star Trek sales etc.. is that your not reaching the global market Star Trek has - as i said, it is a huge GLOBAL brand and i feel sometimes you only focus on the US where in fact if you were to focus on the other countries that Star Trek is hugely successful in (Germany, UK, Australia) you would possibly see a much larger market than even the US.
DSTChuck: While the DVD is a specific example I can tell you that our sales guys call on all countries and if Trek is not in your county or not in the depth you would like it stock its because the distributors passed on the item, or did not buy enough so be SURE to tell your store that you want the DST Trek line and hopefully enough folks do that it will make an impact.

Hi Art Asylum team! I admire your work on the Star Trek Action figures and other replicas. I have the three Borg Action Figures that were sold a few years back displayed in my home, I really love them. Now, on to my question: I noticed that you don’t appear to have any figures, ships or item replicas from the series Star Trek: Voyager. This series happens to be my favorite of the five, and since Star Trek: The Experience is coming to a close and I never had the chance to visit them, I am desperately in need of something Voyager to hold on to. In short: I would really like to have an item replica (comm badge, tricorder, phaser), maybe the ship (which I have already though) or an action figure from the Voyager series made by Art Asylum. So - are you planning on creating any Voyager items any time soon? I would really like that and order some right away and even pay the shipping to Germany, where I live… I’m looking forward to an answer.
DSTChuck: The best thing I can tell you is we do not plan to ignore Voyager, we do have some action figures planned.
Brandon Giles
I had an idea over in the trektoy.com forums that I thought might be cool. Could we maybe one day see little borg assimilation parts included with the borg figures which would allow you to assimilate non borg figures? This could be done something like Hasbro’s - Star Wars Build a Droid figures and Marvel’s Build a Figure.
DSTChuck: That’s a VERY cool idea but I don’t think its something we’re going to be able to do, we’re struggling as it is to get the cost where we need it to be to sell to you guys at a reasonable price.
