With the main cast having been done a million times in a million different ways (probably more) has DST ever considered making Star Wars toys for just the hardcore fans by going the route of Expanded Universe? Maybe Mara Jade, Darth Revan, even Thrawn to just name a few of the fan heavy based characters. Honestly, I love your UQS figures. Hoth Han is, in my opinion, the best look for the guy. The problem is I already have him in that style in over a dozen different shapes and sizes. Give me characters you only get once or twice every decade. That all said, I might have to pick up that Han anyway, he looks fantastic. Also, I want to say the banks look great and I do have a question about them as well. Are they in the same scale as the BSG busts? Thanks for your time!
DSTChuck: Kevin, You make a very valid point - many of the characters in Star Wars have been done many times in many scales. We do hope as we go along we’ll get to really explore the depths of the deep universe of Star Wars characters. That said, our idea is that what we’re doing here is very unique and has never been done before for SW so we’re not 100% behind doing lesser-known characters to make this a complimentary line to something else. It’s our hope the line is unique enough to find its own niche. The banks are much larger then the BSG busts.

1. How many hands will the Darth Maul UQS come with?
2. Will the Obi-Wan UQS come with a Lightsaber hilt (with no blade)?
3. I also just wanted to say that I’m SUPER impressed with the amount of face detail you guys put in. The curves and Maul’s tattoos and the teeth baring snarl really brings out how menacing he is. Will the boots in the SW UQS figures have joints to support footwork in epic posing or will they be stuck in one position?
4. Where are the speakers for the UQS figures located?
DSTChuck:
1. Darth Maul comes with three hands.
2. Currently there are no plans to produce the sabers for any of the characters without the blade (but that’s a cool idea).
3. Very glad you like the Maul, we can’t wait for everyone to see the actual production pieces. The boots will have articulation at the ankle.
4. The speakers are in the torso and the button to activate the sound is placed around the belly button area.

This is for Jen. I saw her post over at Rebelscum regarding the Star Wars Quarter Scale line. Sad to say, some are just not convinced this will be a good line. A lot has to do with people being too picky in my opinion. So far Ii believe all the figures you’ve shown look very good. The only one I have reservations about is the Hoth Han. He looks a bit off as far as the way the costume fits. Darth Maul and Obiwan look awesome. Especially the newly announced young Obiwan! I will be buying a few of these! Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that there are some of us out here that appreciate the effort and detail you guys are putting into the line. As far as the Star Trek ones go though, I think the facial sculpts could be a tad better. Do you have a list of what figures are planned for the Star Wars line? Will we see a Vader in the Quarter scale? Thanks for the updates too! Love the new blogs!
DSTChuck: I’ll tell Jen you said “hi”, she doing fine really, I was able to talk her off the ledge. Funny, I guess to each their own! The other folks today seem to like the Hoth Han. I honestly don’t think we’re getting too worried about what fans might think about the photos they have seen. We’ve been to many shows with these figures and fans that see them in person really seem to like them. Plus like Jen said, the ones that we shot were just hand samples. We’re pretty confident that when fans can see these and play with them they are going to like them. That’s not to say none of them needed some changes and improvements from the early samples but that’s part of the process. These figures are something new for everyone so we’ll just have to see how fans react. I’m glad you like the EP3 Obi Wan! I have it in my office and we think its one of the strongest ones we’ve done so far. The Star Trek ones we showed were pretty early prototypes so hopefully you like the final ones. For the line, we had to send all the figures we had planned for the first two years to Lucasfilm for their review and approval. Now if we wanted to make changes to that we could call them and discuss our ideas. As for work on the figures, we’re trying to stay three or four ahead of what you see so we’ll be better able to ship these on time. I can’t say the whole line right now or Marketing will get very upset! We’ll try to keep you ahead of the curve here on our blogs and figure at the big shows we’ll show several new figures. As for Vader, we’re looking into how to do him and armored characters like the Clone Troopers right now.
