November 22, 2008 : Return of The Flux!
OK, so you all know about the Flux Capacitor and you all know how awesome it is (or should I say “was” seeing as how it sold out so quickly). Well, I can’t say I love it as much as everyone else. Sorry, but it’s true. When I joined the DST family I inherited a project that was too far in development to review/edit. I was able to oversee some changes to the piece that make it the high-quality collectible it is today, but there were some things I would have done differently had I been in charge from the beginning. “Get to the point” you say? OK, here’s the deal - In answer to the demands of the fans and the retailers, DST is going back into production on the Flux Capacitor. AND, so as to not devalue the 1000-piece original that represented the first officially licensed BttF Capacitor, we’re making some changes. First, there will be no limit to the production run of this version. The piece and the box will NOT have any numbering and there will be NO certificate of authenticity. In terms of the unit itself, we have removed the center strobe bulb and corresponding switch. I really wish the lighting could have been changed to a more yellowish hue, but the factory tells me that is impossible and it’s tough to argue across a 13-hour time difference, so I’m yielding on that change. Everyone here at DST is pleased with the success of the first Flux, but now we have an opportunity to bring you an even more film-accurate version at the same SRP. I can’t wait to get a picture to show you all. Stay tuned…
