December 24, 2009 : This Isn’t Your Grandfather’s Time Machine!

rgb_6294-copy

Seeing a Minimate version of the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future really made my year, especially considering how for a while I thought we might not see any more Back to the Future Minimates. So to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time, I’m very happy with our Minimate Vehicle. Two versions of this little guy are coming to stores and we’ve gotten lots of requests to show more photography - so here’s the “clean” version for Toys R Us!  To find out what Minimates are coming with each of these time-traveling tin cans - check out the January shipping issue of Toy Fare magazine.

December 23, 2009 : OK, Now THIS Is COOL

base

One of the more appealing features of the Marvel Select line has been the elaborate bases that come with the figures.  Lately I’ve had to scale back on that due to the extra details (and in some cases, raw size) of some figures, and it has broken my heart (or whatever I have that passes for a heart).  Well, now we have come back to where we began.  In the true spirit of the line, I present to you the Danger Room base that will come with Cyclops.  This thing looks awesome.  And, if you look at the sides of the walls and floor you will see that there are grooves just in case we want to do more X-Men (cough, Colossus, cough) with other Danger Room sections.  HUGE props to Bill Mancuso for this one.  I said I wanted a Danger Room base (actually, I had a different plan originally, but we won’t talk about that - ever) and he took the concept and ran with it.  Now all I want to do is focus on building the complete Danger Room (but y’all will have to wait because I can’t do all X-Men all the time).  Enjoy…

December 22, 2009 : He’s Glowing, But He’s Got the Blues

staypuftgidpaint

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man bank has been such a huge success that I decided to look into two variants.  One will remain secret (for now), but the other one is here.  He’s a glow-in-the-dark blue variant (similar to the Minimate we did for San Diego Comic Con).  The head in the picture is the wrong one (the production piece will have the “happy” face), but the material prototype turned out so well that I had to share with you all.

December 18, 2009 : Deadpool Gets a New Coat - of Paint

deadpool-paint

Yeah, it’s getting late and the jokes are getting cornier - what can I say?  To make up for it, I’ll let you see the approved paint deco for the Marvel Select Deadpool figure.  I don’t have any pictures handy for the weapons or the unmasked head, but take my word for it when I say they complete the figure perfectly.

December 17, 2009 : Do I Look Like Ryan Reynolds? Didn’t Think So

And that will be the last I speak of the Wolverine movie’s version of Deadpool.  Now, on to serious business - the REAL Wade Wilson.  Allow me to introduce to you the latest from the Marvel Select family - Deadpool. There’s an unmasked head in the works but I’ll make you wait a bit longer to see that.  In the meantime, stay tuned because this guy is going to look fantastic when he is painted.

December 16, 2009 : Presenting….Deadpool

deadpool01

Sorry kids, nothing clever to say to introduce this guy (I’ll save the witty remarks for the paint stage).  Here is the newest in the Marvel Select line - Deadpool.  He’ll be coming with a ton of accessories (weapons, lots of weapons) and be on the lookout for a chase variant unmasked version (which I have but I’m not showing ‘cuz I’m mean like that).
