Dave Cordes:
I have searched in vain for the elusive Toys R Us exclusive Screaming Kirk and somehow have never come across one. I’ve seen this figure sell for as high as $100 on ebay. Will you be sending more shipments of this figure out around the time of the new movie or is it marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet… buried alive? KHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!
DSTChuck: Dave, I am sorry but I do not think we’re going to go back in production on that one, but you never know. I am sorry your not able to find one, it was TRU and DST intention to ship a quantity we though would come close to meeting demand.
Janet Hooper
Please can you help. I am displaying my SG-1 & Star Trek Enterprise 7″ figures and they do not have holes in their feet. Do you make a stand that can be used so that they stop falling over? I’m having to resort to the stands made for displaying dolls but they are a bit too big and of course do not fit round the waist. I am getting desperate! Many thanks. Janet
DSTChuck: Sorry Janet we do not make stands, going forward our figures will have holes in their feet whenever possible. Before we go into production we do ensure the figures will stand on their own in a variety of poses. If you’re looking for a suggestion, pick up some fun tack at a local craft store. Just a small dot on the bottom of the feet should work very well.
Naisu Baddi
Any idea when we might see the release of the Romulan Kirk & Spock 2 Pack based on “The Enterprise Incident”?
DSTChuck: This two-pack is in the June issue of Previews. Please refer to our ship date post on the blog, we update ship dates there as often as we can.

Hi there! I have a few Trek-related questions for you.
1.Since you have an all-new scanned headsculpt of Patrick Stewart for your new Locutus figure, which is extremely great looking by the way, would you not consider using it also for a newer, more accurate Picard figure, perhaps for a Generations 15th anniversary 2-pack with Kirk? It seems a waste to not apply it to a better Picard figure.
2.Are there any Generations figures planned? As in Soran/Generations uniform Data/Riker etc?
3.Will the new Kirk headsculpt be available on a standard gold uniform?
4.Any plans to make figures from The Undiscovered Country, like Chang,Gorkon or Martia?
DSTChuck:
1. We do not have any newer scans for Patrick Stewart, the only ones we have are from the last movie and from X3. We’ve not shutting the door on Picard that’s for sure but we have no plans for a new one at this time. If we did another one though we’d be sure to use the most accurate one we had available.
2. Right now no plans for any Generations figures.
3. We’re going to transition to the new, and we feel more accurate, Kirk sculpt as soon as we can for all future Kirk releases.
4. Right now no plans for those Undiscovered figures.

For the Star Trek line your prop replicas are second to none. The one phaser that has been kept off the market is the phaser from Star Trek III The Search for Spock. The all black pistol phaser with the removable phaser I on the top. This phaser also showed up on an episode of Next Generation. Why not, or will there be a release of this phaser to complete the Star Trek Collection in the line of Phasers. Thanks for your time in reading & answering this question. J. Butler
DSTChuck: It’s very possible as we move forward we would make that phaser, we’re going to work on the TWOK and TMP for now and see where we go from there. There is some concern it might be to obscure to sell the qty we need it to sell, but we’ll see. Thanks for the question and support!
Simon Snelling
Hi, given your fondness for Kirk/Spock related two-packs and the fact that apparently they have a new movie out
. I have some suggestions to shoot your way.
1 - Crossover 2-pack : Generations Kirk & Unification Spock (In the TNG/DS9 Scale)
2 - Unification 2-pack : Sarek & Spock (TNG scale). Can you tell I really want that spock?
3 - Journey To Babel 2-pack : Sarek & Dress Uniform Spock (TOS Scale)
DSTChuck: I was not aware we needed MORE ideas for Kirk’s and Spock’s but keep them coming– you might however want to stay low in any Trek fan forums less they find out your giving us tips on more Kirk’s and Spock’s.
Brian Hof
If the Sisko/Dukat 2-pack has been canceled, why haven’t all retailers been notified? As of 5/4/09, Big Bad Toy Store, AFX, and New Force Comics (to name a few) are still offering it for preorder. It seems the only one who got the memo is Entertainment Earth.
DSTChuck: All retailers have in fact been notified and have had their pre-orders canceled. I can’t comment on how often they update their sites, etc…

Hello, I enjoy your Star Trek Ships, they are very nice models. However I would to see you expand beyond the different variants of the USS Enterprise. I would to see you produce the USS Reliant from ST:TWOK, also of one of the Nebula class Starship from ST:TNG.. USS Phoenix, or USS Sutherland perhaps. Also how about the D-7 Kligon Battlecruiser as well ? Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your new products as they become available.
DSTChuck: We’d LOVE to be able to do two ships year and we think sales will support it but right now there is no way we can promise that. It’s a goal but the taxing on our staff and factory right now for these items is tremendous so we’re going to HOPE for two and plan for two but we hope only to announce what we can be sure we can do going forward. You should be getting the D any day now, hopefully you enjoy that for the time being.
David Shoub
A few months ago I borrowed and starting watching the show Star Trek: Enterprise from a friend of mine. Having been a die hard fan of Star Trek, from re-runs of the Original Series to growing up with The Next Generation and then Deep Space Nine and Voyager, I thought I would give it a try because I missed it when it first aired. I’m through the 1st season and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite pieces of technology from the show is the phase pistol and communicator. I remembered that your company had a box set of the Phase Pistol and the Communicator for sale a year or two ago and I was hoping (and praying) that you might have a few left over. I have checked everywhere I could find online to buy it, and the only places that seem to have them are ebay and Amazon but at exorbitantly high prices. <Content edited for space> Do you have any plans to re-release them?
DSTChuck: I am sorry but right now we have no plans to re-release the Enterprise Roll-Play items, that could change but for now I would guess your best bet might be the secondary market.
Donald Wilson
Am trying to ask a question regarding possible future offerings in your Star Trek line but not sure where to ask it. Question is: Has DST thought of doing a replica/toy of NOMAD from the TOS? Would be a great item with lights and sound. If this is not the right place to ask this, please direct me where to do so. Thanks! Don Wilson
DSTChuck: Sorry Don, but I don’t see us ever doing that item.
Harry Worthan
Hi DST, I am a HUGE fan of the large starships Art Asylum produces. In the last month, I have purchased every one available except for the Battle Damaged “E”. Heck, I even scored a NX-01 on my last buy! I have been reading the blog and my question is: I have seen the pre-pros on the Enterprise “D”, pics of the “B” and Excelsior, can you give us a timeframe (roundabout) that we might see these in stores? I know you said the “D” was on the water as of 5/3, and I have preordered that one. But it would help if we had a timeframe on the rest. Maybe this year? Also, is there a chance that Art Asylum can pick up a license in the future to get the New version Enterprise as the offering now just doesn’t cut it… And lastly, any hints on the Klingon “bird” you will be producing? Thanks for all you do.. Harry
DSTChuck: Once a shipment hits the “water” from HK the best we can do is GUESS the exact in store date for an item. So many factors can move a estimated date back a week its hard to say. We think the D will be in stores around 6/10. For the B I really can’t say, I’m not going to get in hot water again like I did the D, we’re going to be as confident as we can before we give a ship date or ask for orders on this item. Right now Playmates is taking care of the new movie products so we’ll leave it to them for the time being. I can’t say more about the Klingon ship — I already got in hot water for what I did say.
Old McDonald
Hi, from your last blog, I wanted to drop my vote for a re-issue of the NX-01 (with more subtle aztecing) and the Enterprise C. I too would love the entire Enterprise Line. I wanted to ask if the upcoming Enterprise D will be available at TRU? thanks
DSTChuck: Your vote is noted. For now no the D will not be in TRU stores. It should be at TRU.com
Nick Rathbone
Hi, Will the upcoming HD Enterprise 1701 be more in scale with itself as, nice as it was. the first TOS Enterprise seemed as though the various sections of the ship were not in scale with each other?
DSTChuck: There will be no changes to the core body to the Enterprise 1701 for the HD version. But for the record I have to disagree with your assessment of the proportions of the existing toy.
Greg Don
Hi Chuck: As you know we are patiently awaiting news of any new Star Trek ships. You have mentioned in near future a Klingon ship and the Fed ships Excelsior & Enterprise-B. Many of us are TWOK fans and are awaiting news of the U.S.S. Reliant. Would you happen to know if there might be delays due to any legal stuff from Paramount? Or another factor in regards to the ship design? Sorry I am a novice but I am fortunate to purchase all the different versions of the famed Enterprise ships from your co. And the Reliant is my 2nd favorite ship/design. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
DSTChuck: There is no mystery or information being kept from the fans. We’d LOVE to do two ships a year but for now we struggle to complete and ship one ship so discussing ships PAST the Klingon ship seems kind of silly for us to do until we prove we can do what we said we’d do.
Michael Trombley
How about an update on the Enterprise D?? Some news would be good press. Your last update said she was set to sail on 5/3. ??? My preorder is still showing 5/20? I would hate to login on 5/20 and see 12/25. So some news to prepare us would be great!
DSTChuck: All I can tell you is they are on the way and should be in the warehouse any day. It’s not like the freighter calls us with updates. It kind of goes on the water and pretty much the next thing we hear is its cleared customs and ready to pick up for the warehouse.
Mark Johnson
Is there any consideration to doing a Star Trek: TNG “Unification” Spock? or maybe a Spock & Romulan Data 2-pack from “Unification”? It might be a good tie-in to the new movie and it would be a TNG character of a popular Original Series character.
DSTChuck: We pretty much explore all Kirk and Spock options. You are correct though those would be cool considering the movie.
Chuck Emmett
First off, thanks for even agreeing to answer questions. Trekkers are a persistent and hardheaded lot if anything. My questions are about DS9.
1) I remember back in the early days when it was just Art Asylum making these figures, there was an incredible demand for DS9 figures. What the heck happened?
2) Also, as a DS9 fan, I have done my darnedest to support the line. I preordered both series, as well as the Dukat Sisko pack, the Worf Gowron pack, and the Bridge Set in an (apparently futile) attempt to support this line and make sure it gets out. What else can I do to let you guys know I and many others want more Deep Space Nine figures?
3) Have you guys thought about using the Odo body for other figures like Weyoun and Garak? Both would require some minor retooling, but both should be feasible. Same line of thought goes for the Dukat body. Obviously he should be released, but a new head and you have Damar, pop on Garak’s head and a dog collar and you have mirror Garak to cower at the feet or regent worf.
4) Have you given any thought to the possibility of making these DS9 figures exclusives without any packaging and only a few accessories at best? Both steps should cut down on costs, making the items more financially feasable. I know I’d much rather have Dukat arrive in a brown paper bag than not have Dukat at all. Thanks again for your time. -Chuck
DSTChuck:
1. We were not involved back when AA started but when we got going we thought for sure there would be strong demand for DS9, seems we were incorrect. I think there are lots of fans for a show , whether is Trek, BSG or anything and sometimes those fans are just not fans of figures and such. 24, Lost and Heroes have viewer ships over 20 Million and their toys are not blowing store doors off.
2. I think at issue might be the fact that sometime fans don’t think they need to preorder an item (DST or any item) they figure the store will have it, but the store might not be sure there are fans for something so with money being tight, they don’t want to take any risk. That might be what we’re seeing with Trek.
3. The Odo sculpt was always intended to be Odo-only.
4. We’ve looked at all sorts of ideas to get more figures out (Be it DS9 or TNG) and right now the support does not seem to be there. We could take away some of the cost BUT the question is how much cost VS value does it change. Would you buy a 15.00 figure for 12.00 if it just came in a bag and would 3,000 other people agree?? Thanks for asking and collecting! We’re going to do what we can to get more great toys out there.
Peter Miles
Hi, this is my first question(s) around here but I have been following as much as I can so hopefully I’m up to date. About the Enterprise-D and the AGT Ent-D: I just saw the recent blog showing off the AGT Enterprise and I just wanna say how awesome it looks. What concerns me are the websites that sell them (I believe the correct word is “Retailers” but I’m never sure) like Play.com or Forbidden Planet. FP doesn’t even mention release dates for the Ent-D or the AGT Variant and Play.com shows the release dates as 29th May for the Ent-D and the AGT Variant on 26th June but from what I’ve seen around the AA site, the Ent-D should’ve come out in March and the AGT Variant should be released very soon or has literally just been released. I’m a bit confused so theres a good chance I might have missed something. I only ask because I was expecting the Ent-D for Christmas and was sorely disappointed with FP when I found out on the AA site that it’s expected release was in March. Also my birthday is coming up and Play.com keep changing their release dates and now that it’s set after my birthday, I! ‘m really hoping that at least the AGT Variant will come out before my birthday. I’m really keeping my hopes up and I hope those hopes come true.
2. I hear there are plans on an Enterprise-B and Excelsior. Fantastic!
3. Do you have any ideas to what the Klingon ship you plan on producing after the Ent-B/Excelsior?
DSTChuck: I am guessing from your email you reside in the UK but I can’t tell what your birthday is. I will say that we are going to ship to the UK directly from HK so retailers there should get it just around the same time we’re selling them here in the states, hopefully O/S date for both will be about the same.
Joe Tetzloff
Any chance of seeing a DS9/Voyager era tricorder?
DSTChuck: Right now we do not have plans to do role-play for either show. As time goes on and if sales hold, you never know.
Hardworking Guy in USA
Hello.. love your Role Play toys, any thoughts for a Phaser Rifle ? or the Phaser from Star Trek III or Tricoders from TNG ? -thnks
DSTChuck: Sorry guy no plans right now no plans for those but pretty much same response as the above question.
Connor Longley
Hello i have recently been searching the internet for your Enterprise phaser and communicator but there are very few available now since they were released. And I would like to know if there is any plan to release them again with your other star trek toys you are making available through Diamond Select and also what are the plans for the toy replicas are you continuing on to other star trek props from movies TV shows etc. Thank you
DSTChuck: That’s the second request today alone for more Enterprise Role-Play but I still think the chances are pretty slim. We’ve already announced as far out as we can for both lines. We hope to show updated stuff at SDCC but it will not be new stuff that we have not already announced.
Charles Kustan
Hello, I was wondering if you could give me some general information about the USS Excelsior release. Has it been confirmed? Thank You
DSTChuck: We are in development on the Enterprise B and that development will include working up several variants that sales will be offering. It’s too soon to say which versions will get made and when this will be on store shelves. I do think, it’s safe to say, you are looking are at 2010 release NOT a 2009 release.
William Dugan
Are the newly-released Spock, McCoy and Dress Uniform Kirk the same as those originally released years ago? Is the WNMHGB Spock the only “new” figure? Thanks for all the great stuff!!
DSTChuck: Looks like you are referring to the new TRU release? If so there are no sculpt changes to the figures, there are some subtle paint changes as we tried to improve on them where we could. Spock is an all new release.
Aaron Bossak
The Borg figures are coming out soon, and I really like both waves, however, years ago, there was the borg assimilation wave and there was an unproduced ferengi borg figure. I was wondering if the ferengi borg might be made like the salt vampire was made eventually?
DSTChuck: We’re still chipping away at the Borg figures but there is very little chance you will ever see the Borg Assimilation Ferengi come out.
Robert Medellin
Hey guys! I’m so glad you’re re-releasing the Star Trek TOS Enterprise crew as 2-packs, since I missed out on a lot of the figures the first time around. So do your re-release plans include Chekov, or any of the other older figures that are hard to find these days (Vina, Gorn, Klingon etc) and do you think a similar re-release with the TNG crew is possible sometime soon? Thanks & keep up the great work!
DSTChuck: We’re not sure to be totally honest with you. We’re curious to see how these two packs perform first. As well as some of the single packed figures we’ve brought back for TRU. Chekov and a couple others are high on our list if these re-issues perform. We have not yet seen a big demand for TNG re-issues but if that time comes there is no reason for us not to do the same thing for that line.
Ryan Lafferty
Hi, Great job on the entire line of Star Trek items. Your painstaking attention to detail makes your company head and shoulders above anyone else. I was wondering if you had ever considered the following items:
Star Trek: The Next Generation Phaser Rifle
Star Trek: The Next Generation Tricorder
Star Trek: The Next Generation PADD
Ghost Busters Proton Pack
Ghost Busters Ghost Trap
Ghost Busters PKE Meter
As a big fan of the Star Trek technology items I have to say that one of the easiest items to make would also be the biggest seller, backlit computer screens/ control panels. These would be highly collectible. It could be sold as either separate panels or one light unit with interchangeable films. There is nothing like this out on the market, but I remember fans making their own years ago. Licensing would produce higher quality all around. I’d love to know what you think. Thanks for your time, -Ryan
DSTChuck: We’ve considered lots of the TNG roll-play but for now the TOS items seem to be performing very well so there is no reason to change that formula. As time goes on we’ll be looking deeper into the Trek universe for ideas. Right now we’re very early into the Ghostbusters license so Sony and DST want to see how fans respond to what we’re doing and take it from there…honestly there are TONS of cool things we’d love to do.
Benjamin Rogers
Hi, First of all I would like to say I really like your Trek Tek replica line, they are very good quality and are very affordable. I have a question, after the release of the Star Trek the Wrath of Kahn phaser, is there any chance another movie phaser such as the Star Trek 3 or Star Trek 5 phaser follow that? Or will you release something from the T.V. shows? Thanks for you time.
DSTChuck: I don’t think we’re 100% nailed down the next items after the TWOK phaser but those will be seriously considered when the time comes.
David Hingtgen
Just a quick note for the markings on Excelsior-class ships for the upcoming Trek toys: As there are only 2 “Enterprise-B” style of Excelsiors ever seen there’s only one really obvious repaint, the Lakota, NCC-42768. I’d just like to point out that the Lakota does *not* have Movie or even TNG-era markings on the hull. It has Voyager/Defiant-style markings—note the red stripes, and the arrowhead—the arrowhead is yellow, and the stripes are “blocky and non-tapering”. So it’s just a bit more than purely a name and number change from the Ent-B. Just a note for the factory if you guys ever do make a USS Lakota. (also, the impulse crystals glowed red, instead of blue, but that may be an FX error)
DSTChuck: Ok thanks for the heads up, we’ll check it out!
William Kim
Hello: I would like to know if there is a way to set the 1701-A Enterprise to activate all of the lights simultaneously and have it stay that way till de-activated? My 1701 40th Anniversary Enterprise does that if I press the activation button for 3 seconds. Thank You!
DSTChuck: The A and refit Enterprises don’t have that function. Only the classic Enterprise and all ships from there going forward have that function.
Kenneth Netzel
Hi. I am a HUGE Star Trek fan, especially the original series. I was thrilled when I saw you were offering really nice prop replicas of the phasers, communicators and tricorders used in the TV series. I have both the phaser and communicator, with the tricorder on order. The problem I am having is with my communicator. I put in two fresh, NEW batteries in it, and it works great, but the next day the batteries are dead. Sucked dry. Like the power is left on. When I am done demonstrating it, I close the lid, the motor stops, the lights go out, and it looks off, but for some reason, it still drains the batteries. Is there a defect in the unit? Do I have a bad one? Is there a hidden on/off switch I am supposed to turn off when not in use. I would simply take out the batteries, but you know that to put batteries in, you have top take out four screws and remove the entire back plate on this thing. Taking the batteries out every time it is not in use is not practical. I would appreciate any help you can offer with this situation. I am a collector of such things, and the phasers and other props, including the ships, don’t do this. Only the communicator. Thank you.
DSTChuck: Sounds like you just have a bad unit, sorry about that. Please contact customer service (customerservice@diamondselecttoys.com) and they will replace it for you.
Will Mac
Hi Chuck, Will you give us some details on the TOS tricorder medical scanner? Does it have a motorized spinner or is it manual? Also, any update on the geo tricorder, as far as a retailer and release date? Thanks!
DSTChuck: We opted for sound and a gear box that was actuated with a thumb dial.
Dabid Kuhrt
Hey guys, Thanks so much for your super question-and-answer! Reading it is always a highlight of my month! Couple quick questions: The Gul Dukat/Sisko 2-pack and Sisko with Defiant Chair have been confirmed as canceled in this Q&A, but are still listed for pre-sale on every major web toy store (Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth, etc.) Does this mean that there is still a chance for these figures to see production in some way, or is all hope lost? Also, will we be able to buy any Next Gen or DS9 figures at Toys R Us this year, or have they only officially picked up original series figures at this time?
DSTChuck: Glad you like the Q&A, its lots of fun to do, sorry it’s not always good news though. I think hope for now is lost on those DS9 items. The pre-books were a small fraction of what they would need to be to go into production. We never say all hope is lost, we’ve already got lots of time and money invested in them, so we’re going to keep thinking of ways to release them. Right now TRU is focusing on TOS — I think because of the new movie. IF the TOS figures and products continue to perform I would expect they would start to expand the types of items they take in for Trek.
Ben Lasher
Have you canceled the Star Trek Minimates sets? I have seen no news and nothing since wave 5? I wanted some more Next Gen and Deep Space Nine mates
DSTChuck: Officially Trek MM are on hold. The pre-books on the last two waves were very low, but we’ve not given up on them and would love to get some more figures out there… we’ve just got to find the right spot.
Jonathan Teal
Hello! I’ve been following the Star Trek TOS series with great interest over the years, and I love that it’s still getting the love and dedication you’re giving it! I passed on the Bones figure when it was first released and I’ve been kicking myself ever since… now I’m scouring TRU’s to find it! Anyway, I just had a quick question… The Tricorder replica has now been delayed many, many times. I don’t bring this up to complain; I know how tricky it must be to try and prognosticate when a product like this will be ready! I was just wondering if you could tell us a little about what’s happening with it? It would be interesting to hear about the development of the product over the last few months. Thanks again!
DSTChuck: Hopefully you have been able to locate the good doctor by now. We really can’t go into all the details for the delays, we just don’t think it’s productive to place “blame” in public. We might at some point be able to go back and an overview of development to the Blog.
Damon Klempner
Hi I just wanted to start off by saying how much I appreciate your products and look forward to new and upcoming releases. So with little delay lets get to my question.
1. Having seen the prototypes of the Excelsior and Enterprise B I was curious the next ships to be made other than variations of the two and the Enterprise D like different named ships and battle scarred versions…Is there a chance that the next two ships will be the reliant and the DS9’s Defiant Im personally a big fan of both especially the Defiant and Im curious if their in the plans…I think the Defiant would be a fairly easily produced ship due to its single hull design and the simplicity.
2. My final question is of the alien ships…once the main federation ships have been made will there be a alien like such as The Romulans, Dominion, and The Klingon bird of prey and battle cruiser I think it’d be nice for each federation ship from the movies and shows to have a counter part/ rival alien ship to go along with them. I could easily list the variations like the Klingon bird of prey being the basic, the battle damage, and the HMS Bounty versions…plus I’m sure all fans would love to see adjustable wings on it to show the cruise mode and attack modes. Anyways those are my questions and Id love to get some feed back. Again great job and I look forward to seeing future product!
DSTChuck: The next new ship after the B will be a Klingon ship and after that we’re really not sure. To be honest we’re not sure how an alien ship will do but we’re pretty confident the Klingons are the ones to start with. I don’t think we’re far enough along to even think about how we’re going to approach the multiple wing positions.
Richard Entwisle
To whom it may concern Just wondering if there is planned to be a Diamond Select version of the USS Voyager?? Cheers Richard
DSTChuck: The Voyager ship is not in our immediate plans.
Aaron Bossak
Will toys r us or other store carry the Borg wave of figures???
DSTChuck: Right now TRU is starting off with just the TOS figures but if all goes well hopefully they will expand their selection for 2010.
Jerr Weber
Will art Asylum/DS be re-releasing the 1701-A and will you also be releasing the 1701-C to finish the enterprise line?
DSTChuck: Right now we can’t commit to producing the C, we’re only going to announce the B and the Klingon ship as new products.
Sam English
Greetings Chuck & Co.
1. I know you mentioned there is no interest in TNG anymore. But I assume there is some demand for certain characters, mainly Picard, Worf & perhaps Data. Wouldn’t utilizing these people allow the possibility for more releases such as season one 2-packs (Worf & Tasha/Data & Troi etc) or even a TNG wave 6? (eg: S1 Worf, S1 Tasha, S1 Data, S2 Pulaski).
2. Over in the Mego Museum’s custom section they have a fantastic Mego styled green Orion woman…..just sayin is all *wink wink nudge nudge* Thanks & have fun. Sam.
DSTChuck:
I think you are right, Picard, Data and Worf are the top sellers of the TNG line. The two packs have kind of been hit and miss for us, some do pretty well and some that we think will do well like the Search for Spock two pack or the DS9 waves don’t perform. We’re not shutting the door on TNG though, it’s just not a focus for right now.
