July 13, 2009 : AskDST #46 - Misc Edition

What does DSTChuck have in store for you this week? How about answering all of your Marvel Select, Back to the Future, 3 3/4 inch, Transformers and Ultimate Quarter Scale questions! So to find out the odds of a Marvel Select Deadpool, keep reading!
Joshua Moore
Since the return of Archangel, he has been a pretty big thing in the new X-Force comics. Do you have any plans of doing an Archangel figure based on his appearance there? Or any plans on making any versions of the character? I would love to see what you could do with that.

DSTChuck: While there is no shortage of Angel figures out there I will say, that is one of the figures we have considered from time to time so you never know.

Michael Stimson
I am a huge Storm fan and always hoped that DST would produce a Marvel Select version of her but none have made it into the line yet. I would like to ask if it is possible for a Storm to be made and also if it could be modeled after the Michael Turner Storm from the cover of Black Panther # 18. Thanks Mikey

DSTChuck: Mike, Storm is not one we’re considering for our next round of releases, but she is a character that we do consider from time to time.

David Ford
Are we to see any more “major” Marvel female characters get the Marvel Select treatment and get added to up coming waves?? It seems that with each new wave of figures announced there is either only one female character added or none at all. I do hope to see the following characters get made!! Ms. Marvel / Carol Danvers with Moonstone as Ms. Marvel variant, Invisible Woman, Storm, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, Rogue, Psylocke, Mystique

DSTChuck: We don’t really have a “rule” set up that we’re going to do so many or limit to a number of female characters. We try to mix in classic characters along with newer editorial driven characters and find our balance that way. So yes it’s of course very possible you will see more female figures down the road.

Eric Schroer
I just saw that the UQS Mace Windu just got pushed back again. We are now looking at a July 22 date. Is everything ok with this line? I have collected the first 3 and I’m planning on collecting the whole series. I just hope these getting pushed back will not lead to them being canceled. Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

DSTChuck: Eric, Sorry for the delay. The line is doing just fine and we’ll have lots of new stuff to show at San Diego Comic Con. The issue with the next few dolls has been finding just the right fabric color to match the movies. If the production run is very large we can create our own fabric but for smaller runs we have to search out a fabric that already exists in the closest color we can get.

Brian Petersen
Is Deadpool in consideration for Marvel Select? If not, PLEASE? :)

DSTChuck: YES he is a strong consideration.

Hernan Gamez
Hi sir, sorry for my question but I want to know if you have any news for another Star Wars 1/4 announcement in the near future. Trooper please!!!!! thanks Hernan

DSTChuck: We’re going to show as many new figures for the SW line as we can at San Diego Comic Con. A full Stormtrooper or Clonetrooper is quite an undertaking BUT we’re working on it.

Darren Douglas
Hi there, thanks for taking time to answer questions! Not so much a question this time but an echo….I noticed in your last star trek Q+A that a 3-3/4 inch (star wars scale!) has been talked about in the office for star trek. I just need to echo the sentiment of some folk on these Q+A’s and beg for you to make that happen, I need a tiny Kirk in order to finally figure out who’d win in a fight with Han solo. (my theory: Kirk in hand to hand, Han in a gunfight) You’ve done all my favorite characters in 7 inch scale by now anyhow! Ill sneak this in: I’ve asked before, so have other folk, and you don’t have the license, but Id love 3-3/4 inch scale original Battlestar Galactica figures and VEHICLES! I assume you have already, but please try and obtain the license. (and Buck Rogers, I want a starfighter!!) thanks very much Darren

DSTChuck: Thanks for the encouragement, Darren. We’ll see what we can do!

Jeff Peebles
Have you given up on the Transformers brand? I read your latest ship date estimates and I see no Transformers product on there for this year.

DSTChuck: Nope not at all! We’ll have an exclusive Megatron bust for SDCC and we are working on Megatron and Optimus for our Icons line.

Dave Cordes
Will you be making a BTTF3 DeLorean either the “white wall” version or the “train wheel” version or perhaps both? Will you be making any additional 1:1 props similar to the Flux Capacitor such as Mr. Fusion, Hoverboards, or Gray’s Sports Almanac?

DSTChuck: It is VERY possible we will do the time machine from BTTF3. We’ve TRIED to make a Hoverboard but it just doesn’t seem possible.

Aaron Bossak
I recently was looking forward to purchasing the new Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine, however I was told that they dropped the DMC logo. Because it doesn’t match what is in the movie, I will cancel my orders for both cars. If Sunstar toys, and Welly could put the DMC/DeLorean marks and there cars, so can you. If they go back on the car I will order them again.

DSTChuck: Aaron, while I can not comment on another companies’ products I can tell you that it was not our choice to remove the logos. When DMC went into bankruptcy someone bought the name and all the logos etc… So to put it simply we do not have the rights to those in our products. We do feel that the car is the most accurate (aside from the logos) ever made and has great play value so maybe when it comes out you can take another look at it and hopefully change your mind.
