July 29, 2011 : Warthog, Noble Warthog: New Halo Minimates Sets Hit TRU in August

GAUSS WARTHOG WITH JORGE, EMILE AND NOBLE 6
If you haven’t been keeping up with the regular waves of Halo Minimates at Toys “R” Us, Diamond Select Toys is gonna make things easy for fans of Noble Team. They’re sending TRU two boxed sets in August, and each one will contain three Noble Team members and one Warthog (which conveniently seats three Minimates).
Jun, Carter and Kat will come with the standard Warthog, and Jorge, Emile and Noble-6 will come with a Warthog with a Gauss cannon, the first one of its kind DST has released. The sets will cost $19.99 each, will include a different weapon for each team member, and will only be available at TRU. Minimates stand two inches tall, with 14 points of articulation each, and each Warthog stands 4 inches tall.

July 20, 2011 : SDCC Sneak Peek #3: The Next Generation of Star Trek Retros!
Is it Preview Night yet? No? Well, I’m officially declaring it Preview Morning. And I’m officially declaring our old-fashioned Mego-style Star Trek Retro toys to be rebooted! It’s a whole new generation of Retro toys — in fact, it’s The Next Generation, because Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard and a member of the Borg collective are the next two figures in the Retro series! They’re 8 inches tall, and will fit right in with the rest of your 8-inch Classic Trek crew members. How is this possible, you ask? Time travel!

Stop by the booth (#2607) to check it out in person, as well as our Minimates version of KARR, with a 2-inch Garth Knight Minimate!

July 11, 2011 : Captain America: The First Avenger Toys Have Been Deployed!
At ease, soldier! Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Minimates are now at Toys “R” Us, including two-packs of Cap and the Red Skull, Frontline Cap and Bucky, and the TRU-exclusive USO Cap/Dum-Dum Dugan and Gabriel Jones/Hydra Flame Trooper! And specialty and comic book stores have their own exclusive assortment, including those first two sets plus Howard Stark and Peggy Carter, each with a Hydra Trooper. They’ll also have an assortment of army-building single packs, including a Hydra Soldier, Hydra Infantry, Hydra Pilot, Hydra Flame Trooper and the Red Skull in his Hydra Uniform! Visit http://www.comicshoplocator.com/ to find a store near you.
Then, in August, movie Cap makes his Marvel Select debut! Based on the likeness of actor Chris Evans from the upcoming summer 2011 blockbuster, the movie-accurate Captain America figure includes Marvel Select’s standard 16 points of articulation and stands approximately 7 inches tall. As an added bonus, the figure comes packaged with part of a display stand that can be combined with the base from the Red Skull movie figure (sold separately) to form a diorama, recreating a key scene from the movie! These figures are on the water now, and will hit comic shops and specialty stores in August!

July 10, 2011 : Universal Monsters Series 2: New Photos of Drac and Frank in Action

When new Minimates come in, we can’t help but put them in fun positions and have them interact with each other. Sometimes we break out the occasional props and sets to liven things up a little, but we draw the line at an actual dollhouse. …Well, the line is just on the other side of a dollhouse. Dollhouses are fair game. This particular dollhouse is haunted by none other than Dracula himself, and the old outdoor grill is rumored to be the refuge of Frankenstein’s monster! Universal Monsters Minimates Series 2 will be out in September, but here’s a sneak peek.

July 8, 2011 : San Diego Comic Con Minimates Giveaways: Calling all Freebooters!
Hey, all you Minimates lovers out there. So, you know how I said there were gonna be free Minimates at San Diego Comic-Con? Well, there are. Four, to be exact. A specially packaged Pirate Raiders Minimate will be given out at the Diamond Select Toys booth every day at noon: Robert Deal on Thursday, Jonathan Barnet on Friday, Charles Vanes on Saturday and Calico Jack on Sunday. They’ll all be distributed in bagged trays, so, on Sunday, you can put them all in a special box (distributed with Jack) to create your own four-pack! It’s pretty cool, as you can see below, but they’re gonna go fast, so don’t be late! And hit up the Minimates panel on Saturday from 1-2 PM in Room 9, for more info and giveaways!
