Our Minimates photo contest is over, and we got a ton of great entries! Over 50 shots from around the world, featuring Marvel, Halo, Universal Monsters, Pirate Raiders, Ghostbusters, Minimates MAX, Back to the Future, Terminator and Playstation characters! While we loved them all, only one could win, and that was Les Koting of the Philippines. He’ll be getting Minimates from every line we make for his shot of Captain America and the Red Skull brawling, above! We’ll also send swag to the three runners-up — Don Brosius, Philip Mailloux and Brad Martin — but there were so many great shots we had to share some of them here!

Age of X Magneto, Basilisk, Legacy and Gambit Minimates

There’s an old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, then it must be that Xavier kid mucking about with reality again.” Professor X’s son Legion has already created one divergent reality when he went back in time and iced his own dad (you may remember it as the awesome Age of Apocalypse — thanks, Legion!), but he created another one, the Age of X, when Doctor Nemesis tried to heal his fragmented mind. Since the AoA versions of the X-Men Minimates have been so popular, we decided to give the Age of X its own box set, featuring Rogue (a.k.a. Legacy), Cyclops (a.k.a. Basilisk), Magneto and Gambit! Look for it in comic and specialty shops this fall.

The longest-running comic-based toy line in history soldiers on! Or should that be “super-soldiers on”? Because the 42nd wave of Marvel Minimates by Diamond Select Toys includes love for recent box office champion Captain America, as well as his fellow big-screen Avenger, Thor! Look for the following four two-packs at comic shops, specialty stores and online retailers in Novemberr:

X-Men: First Class Cyclops Minimate

In the spirit of the back-to-school season, Diamond Select Toys’ box set of comic-based X-Men First Class Minimates will be hitting comic and specialty shops in September. To kick off the countdown until their arrival, we did a classroom photo shoot with them in which we literally sent them back to school. And we’re not talking about the Rodney Dangerfield movie.
