“Nighty-night, Winston!” Over 20 years later, those words still fill me with dread, and my name’s not even Winston. But say it in the raspy voice of the Sandman from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, preferably in a pitch-black room, and it’ll scare anybody. The Sandman is part of the second wave of Real Ghostbusters Minimates two-packs, exclusively available at Toys “R” Us in September, and it’s an all-star line-up:

- Peter Venkman & Winston Zeddemore
- Stay Puft (Good) & Louis (in Ghostbusters outfit)
- Evil Slimer & Sandman (TRU-exclusive)
- Logo Ghost & Killerwatt (TRU-exclusive)

It’s a big day for Diamond Select Toys this week at comic and specialty shops! Not only do the 8-inch Retro Star Trek Captain Pike and Salt Vampire come out, there’ll also be two new Minimates box sets on the pegs! One is Real Ghostbusters Series 1, with Ray Stanz, Egon Spengler, and exclusive figures of Janine Melnitz (civilian outfit) and Slimer, and the other is Mobile Action Xtreme (MAX) Series 1, with a fireman, a smoke jumper, and the set-exclusive policewoman and special ops soldier! Anyone looking to relive classic TV memories or expand their ranks of real-life mini-heroes, this week is the week to hit the local comic store!

100 feet of angry marshmallow mascot can really ruin your day. Luckily we at DST have shrunk the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man down to a much more manageable size — 7 inches! Not only that, our mini-statue version lights up, to add a pleasing glow to your collection at night. Isn’t that much nicer than stepping on churches? By now you’ve all seen (and bought?) the Slimer light-up statue and you’ve all seen (and pre-ordered?) the Stay Puft light-up statue.  Well, here is the third piece in the line, the Statue of Liberty.

Straight from the finale of Ghostbusters II, this statue will be the same general height as the other pieces in the line and, of course, she’ll be translucent resin so she’ll light up on your desk or shelf.  An edition size has not been determined at this time, but expect this to be highly collectible.  After all, an icon like the Statue of Liberty is going to appeal to patriotic fans all over, regardless of their feelings toward Ghostbusters.

If you aren’t chuckling right now, it means someone changed my subject line.  Anyway…at this point you have all seen the awesomeness that is the Ghostbusters Slimer Light-up Statue.  Well, I’m here to let you know that he was just the first of many such statues.  The logical follow-up - Mr. Stay Puft.  Using Bill Mancuso’s sculpt from the rotocast bank, we have created 2 versions of statue.  The mass release will be the normal white figure with the happy face.  The exclusive (or future mass release) will be styled after our “exploding” style (translucent red) with the angry face.  Please note that the photos are just early prototypes, so the lighting effects are not necessarily final.

The “We’re Ready to Believe You!” box set includes Egon, Peter and Ray, who “serve all your supernatural elimination needs“, plus the haunted Dana Barrett (with an alternative outfit)!

He’s back!  Everyone’s favorite fictional marshamallow mascot is returning for an all-new variant.  This time he is modeled off of our Series 2 “Exploding” Minimate.  We couldn’t do translucent plastic for this one (well, we could, but I really didn’t like the way it looked) so we went with Glow-in-the-Dark.  At first glance, the non glowing bank is a little odd, but turn out the lights and you’ll know you made a good purchase. 

Do the ghosts ever give up?
Do the guys ever get a vacation?
Of course not! And that’s certainly apparent in our latest collection of the good guys vs. the bad guys 2-pks in Toys R Us!
