286852_190000601064476_100001636125555_532243_3111292_o
Our Minimates photo contest is over, and we got a ton of great entries! Over 50 shots from around the world, featuring Marvel, Halo, Universal Monsters, Pirate Raiders, Ghostbusters, Minimates MAX, Back to the Future, Terminator and Playstation characters! While we loved them all, only one could win, and that was Les Koting of the Philippines. He’ll be getting Minimates from every line we make for his shot of Captain America and the Red Skull brawling, above! We’ll also send swag to the three runners-up — Don Brosius, Philip Mailloux and Brad Martin — but there were so many great shots we had to share some of them here!

Check ‘em out in the gallery, then head over to Facebook to enter our Marvel and Universal Select Photo Contest, starting soon!

July 29, 2011 : Warthog, Noble Warthog: New Halo Minimates Sets Hit TRU in August

GAUSS WARTHOG WITH JORGE, EMILE AND NOBLE 6

GAUSS WARTHOG WITH JORGE, EMILE AND NOBLE 6

If you haven’t been keeping up with the regular waves of Halo Minimates at Toys “R” Us, Diamond Select Toys is gonna make things easy for fans of Noble Team. They’re sending TRU two boxed sets in August, and each one will contain three Noble Team members and one Warthog (which conveniently seats three Minimates).

Jun, Carter and Kat will come with the standard Warthog, and Jorge, Emile and Noble-6 will come with a Warthog with a Gauss cannon, the first one of its kind DST has released. The sets will cost $19.99 each, will include a different weapon for each team member, and will only be available at TRU. Minimates stand two inches tall, with 14 points of articulation each, and each Warthog stands 4 inches tall.

July 2, 2011 : Storming the Beaches: New Halo Minimates Warthogs Photos

100_7271

The new Halo Rocket Warthogs are hitting Toys “R” Us stores soon, so we thought we’d take one out for a test-drive! I loaded a Rocket Warthog and a regular Warthog up with some Wave 2 Halo Minimates (in TRU now) and some figures from the upcoming specialty store-exclusive Wave 3 four-pack, took them out to the beach and did some donuts. That’s some sweet handling. Check out the gallery here!

June 17, 2011 : Planes, Trains and Mini-Mobiles: The Making of a Minimates Vehicle

Back to the Future II Hover Mode Time Machine

Back to the Future II Hover Mode Time Machine

With the second wave of Minimates vehicles hitting stores soon, there are a dozen different ways for Minimates to get around, and they certainly do get around in style. Each Minimate vehicle, be it an adaptation of a famous conveyance from television, movies, the newspapers or the history books, takes the original design and adapts it to accommodate the blocky little bodies of multiple Minimates. So how does Minimatization happen? It’s a multi-step process, but we talked to project manager Robert Yee and vehicle artist Mark Wong to find out how much is planned and how much is just a series of happy accidents. June 14, 2011 : An Army of 13: Halo Minimates Series 3 Fights for Freedom in July

After the Fourth of July weekend, what better way to celebrate your independence than by a building an army? In early July, Toys “R” Us will also get the MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems) Warthog with a red CQB, and specialty and comic-book stores will also get the Arctic Warthog with an exclusive white Spartan Mark VI. Then, in August, Toys “R” Us gets a new wave of Halo Minimates two-packs:

- Spartan ODST (white) with Brute Stalker (active camouflage)
- Spartan Mark VI (blue) with Elite Combat (blue)
- Carter with Kat
- Spartan CQB (green) with Brute Stalker.

At the same time, comics and specialty shops will get an exclusive four-pack of reinforcements: CQB (khaki), Rogue (cobalt), Jackal Sniper and Elite Combat Armor (gold). Just in time for Halo Fest on August 26-28! That place is literally gonna be a war zone.
