: Has Wolverine hit hard times?
Woooooooo. Big excitement today kiddies. We’ve got our first pic of the appoved base sculpt for the Marvel Select Wolverine figure based on the upcoming and super-secret movie. Not getting the meaning? You’ll just have to stay tuned (and surf the web for spoilers).
December 23, 2008 : Avengers: The Initiative #20 - Make Mine Minimates!
Now normally I’m super-excited ANY time we get advance art from Marvel Comics, but this time takes the cake! Check out Newsarama’s story on the upcoming Avengers: The Initiative #20 and see if you can spot the source of my jubilation! (I’ll wait right here while you check).
December 8, 2008 : Wolverine getting closer to the big screen…
…and your toy collection. Here is the approved paint for the movie Wolverine and his backalley dumpster base. Are you still puzzled by the base? OK, look at it this way - What type of business has a dumpster like that? Perhaps…a restaurant? Maybe, say… a Cajun restaurant? OK, any more of a hint than that and I’m getting fired, so this post ends here.
November 15, 2008 : Hello Ladies!
Done and done. Thanks to Kat Sapene we now have photos of the completely approved Marvel Girl figures. Although you can’t tell from the pics, they turned out a bit smaller than I had hoped, but have no fear, a little resizing at the factory and they’ll be back in scale in no time. Until then, go place your orders - you know you want them (both).
: All your base are belong to us!
HA! I can’t believe it took me over 9 years to work that back into an official work-related writing. Anyway, today I am here to tell you about the base that will be coming with the Marvel Select Marvel Girl action figure. This little guy is a thing of beauty. At first glance, it just looks like half of a gate to enter Xavier’s. BUT, the sign on the pillar will be Xavier’s School for Jean Grey and will be Xavier Institute for the chase figure, Rachel Summers. For those who are lucky enough to get both, the bases can be connected to form a full-functioning two-part gate. What’s even cooler is, not only does this work with any X-Men type character, but our factory can swap out gate pieces if we were to ever make someone from another group like, say, maybe the Avengers (what? me, hinting at something? never.)
: Rachel! Put some clothes on, woman!
Eh, so this is way rougher than I’d normally let anyone see, but I’m in a sharing mood. Here is the very first look at Sam Greenwell’s sculpt for my Marvel Girl figure. I think he knows I started this project so I could have a good Jean Grey figure, and he sent Rachel’s head to taunt me, but it’s cool. I know Jean will look just as good. I haven’t reviewed the sculpt yet - I was so excited that I had to post it right away, but offhand it looks like it is headed in the right direction. (Although, methinks young Ms. Grey needs to smile more. C’mon, she’s young, she’s hot, she’s got superpowers - Why so serious?)
October 31, 2008 : Marvel Minimates Revealed!
The wait is over and we’re ready to announce the lineups for the upcoming Marvel Minimates Series 25 and 26! We’ve been hinting all week but now we have the answers you’ve been waiting for. So which two minority mutants make the lineup? Which army builders are coming to your collection? How many Wolverines CAN we fit into a single wave? Check out the full lineup after the jump!

October 29, 2008 : Evolution of a Canuck
So, you think these great sculpts come out right on the first try? Think again. Creating a comic book action figure or statue is a multi-phase process.
October 8, 2008 : Behind the Scenes: Iron Man Minimates
Hi there! I’m Barry Bradfield — the other of the two artists who works on the artwork for Minimates. Along with helping create the 2-D control art, I also choose out appropriate colours and apply them to the black and white artwork. Once the artwork is finalized and approved, I then create tampo files that will be used to print elements of the artwork onto the final figures (such as faces and chest details).
