February 21, 2012 : Diamond Select Toy Fair Contest! Win Part of the DST Booth!

We know, we know — you really, really wanted to go to the New York Toy Fair this year, but once again, you found yourself to be neither a buyer nor a member of the press. Well, we’ve got an idea — we want to give you a couple of pieces of artwork from our booth that you can use to turn your room into your own private Toy Fair! From outside the booth, we’ve got a big, 8-foot-tall by 3-foot-wide Marvel Minimates poster (a snippet seen above), and from the inside we’ve got an 8-foot-by-3-foot Minimates MAX poster (a snippet seen below). Then we’ve got three pieces of original Minimates control art, used to show buyers what Minimates will look like before they get made. (Don’t worry, we’ll pick good ones.) Plus, we’ll throw in a couple of sets of Minimates for you to hang around the room to simulate a retail environment! It’s like a Toy Fair in miniature, and it’s all yours! Simply share this coverage of our Marvel showroom on your Facebook page and you’ll be entered! Contest ends Friday at 4 pm EST!

: New York Toy Fair Round-Up: Mobile Action Xtreme
Another batch of pictures from the Diamond Select Toys booth at New York Toy Fair 2012: Mobile Action Xtreme! The rescue-themed Minimates line is back for a third series, and this time it’s not Toys “R” Us exclusive — that’s right, MAX is going nationwide! In addition to showing off the third wave (with new Arctic and Night Ops sets, and new Soldier and Smokejumper paint schemes) DST showed off the updated Armored Personnel Carrier (now with battle station conversion) and debuted the second animated episode of Mobile Action Xtreme! Check out the episode above, and the new toys below!
January 19, 2012 : The Minimates MAX Jet has MAXimum Building Possibilities!

Has the MAX Tech Stealth Jet flown under your radar? Well, maybe this will set off some alarms — a video showing all of the possible combinations if you were to buy two (or three) of them and take advantage of their fully interchangeable parts system! They’re the most fun vehicles we’ve ever made, and they look pretty sweet, as well. Plus, they each come with a pilot figure and plenty of sweet MAX decals for decoration purposes. The blue one shown is a specialty and comic shop exclusive, but a black version is at Toys “R” Us now. Somebody get these on the Pentagon’s line plan for 2013!
December 6, 2011 : A Very Minimate Christmas: An Easy Recipe for Orna-Mates!

Everyone already knows that Minimates make great stocking stuffers, but what if you have a lot of Minimates, and want a fun new way to show them off to your friends and relations? Well, we’ve got an idea — why not trim the tree with them? Due to the interchangeability of Minimates, it’s actually pretty easy. Here’s how you do it:
1. Remove the Minimate’s head.
2. Clip the loop end of an ornament hook onto the exposed neck peg. (In a pinch, you can also unfold a paper clip into an S shape, and wrap the smaller end around the peg.)
3. Place the head back on, as well as the Minimate’s hat or helmet.
4. Bend the hook/clip upwards, so the hook can be seen over the Minimate’s head.
5. Place on tree.
6. Repeat.
At about $7 for a pack of two, that’s cheaper than most ornaments, and you can show your love of Marvel Comics and movies, Capcom games, Halo, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Universal Monsters, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, pirates, fireman, policemen, SCUBA diving and much more! Beat that, Hallmark!

December 2, 2011 : We Put the MAX Tech Stealth Jet Though Some Maneuvers

The MAX Tech Stealth Jet has had a few different incarnations, but since there are probably a handful of people out there who still haven’t picked up one of these collectable, connectable beauties, we thought we’d put together a short music video showing how much fun the thing is. The latest version, in clear blue, is at comic shops and specialty stores now as pat of Minimates Vehicles Series 2 — look for a black variant at Toys “R” Us, and plug ‘em together to make a superjet!

September 19, 2011 : New York Comic-Con 2011 to Get Exclusive Minimates, Femme Fatale
Diamond Select Toys likes to think of its convention appearances as one long goodwill tour of America, bringing sneak peeks of its products and new, exclusive toys to different parts of the country. And this year’s journey, from Chicago’s C2E2 to San Diego’s Comic-Con, is now coming to an end in New York City, at the 2011 New York Comic-Con! Taking place at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan from October 13-16, the convention is the East Coast’s biggest pop-culture gathering, and in addition to our famous Minimates panel (2:45 on Saturday, in Room 1A15), this year will be the home to four very cool exclusive DST products, including the first offerings from a brand new line of Minimates!

August 31, 2011 : New Minimates Vehicles Will Activate Your Turbo Boost

Super Pursuit Mode KITT with Michael Knight (Previews)
This Christmas, you’re getting a car. Not just any car — the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or “KITT” to his friends! That’s right, our third assortment of Minimates Vehicles will include not only a new Pirate Raiders pirate ship and a Minimates MAX Armored Personnel Carrier, but also KITT himself, star of the Knight Rider TV series in the 1980s along with some guy named Hasselhoff.
The 4-inch-long vehicle will come with a two-inch Michael Knight, with opening doors and room for a passenger, and it will only be available at Toys R Us in late November, along with Robert Deal’s pirate ship with Undercover Anne Bonny. But, since KITT needs his nemesis, we’re also releasing the evil KARR with Garthe Knight in that wave’s specialty-store and comic-shop-exclusive assortment, along with a British Navy ship with officer! Order both through your local retailer!
And if that’s not enough? A special-edition version of KITT, featuring his Super Pursuit Mode transformation, will be available a month later, just in time for the new year and only through Diamond Comics Distributors’ Previews catalog. Which means you should tell your local comic book shop to order it in! Don’t get left in the dust!
