July 31, 2009 : The Best Viper Driver They’ve Got…

February 26, 2009 : What Do You Get When You Transform a Transformers Bust?
Dear Readers,
First all, I am back! I missed you all and I wish I had something awesome to blog about when I was on leave but alas it was boring. Now that I am back I have spent the day doing many mundane tasks, but lo and behold I went snooping for some projects I knew I would be working on in the coming weeks and I found THIS! Turns out we are starting a new line of Transformers Resin! Exciting… I know right?
So If you are a fan of DST you know of the old Marvel Icons line of the past, if you are not familiar check the archives. I like to think of them as the essence of the character in large chess piece form. I probably own enough of these guys to start a giant chess game. Well now we are resusitating the Icon’s line in the form of bots! Autobots that is!
The line will start with the most important of all, Optimus Prime of course. I saw the paint master pictures and we have gone with the 80’s style cartoon accurate Optimus. He has great clear and sharp lines and awesome color. I can’t wait to add him to my collection, look for him in previews soon and on the website. I will post pictures when I photograph him myself.
September 5, 2008 : Jetfire and Battle Damaged Jetfire
Been working on getting the many photographs of Jetfire and Battle damaged Jetfire ready to hit their boxes, I am expecting die lines this week and am all for getting these guys to china so they can be back here on time. The normal Jetfire ran in previews some time ago, the battle damaged version which is an exclusive just arrived recently. He has a removable head that you can put in his hand. The illusion it gives you is with helmet and without helmet while also looking at helmet in hand, it’s pretty neat! I love that these guys get more and more interchangeable pieces as the line progresses.
August 28, 2008 : Galvatron, he may just have stolen my heart
Dear Readers,
When I first came to DST Hasbro was the license I immediately “took over”, I think the first Ad I ever did was for a G.I. Joe bust. While I do (and I go out there on a dorky limb divulging this stuff with you) collect Joe’s as well as Star Wars it was the Transformers part of the Hasbro license that really excited me. I wish I had a back list of all the transformers I have done in the past two years or so, I would venture to say around 25-30 but my Math-foo is weak so that could just be a shot in the dark.
August 25, 2008 : End of an Era
Dear Readers,
Well that’s it for Transformers for me for a while! I should be all caught up this time. I just finished Rumble and Frenzy up, who each come with a cassette creature (Ratbat and Ravage - you Transformers lovers know what I’m talking about). I shouldn’t have to get any more of these boxes ready until Ironhide, which should be coming out this year as well. Look for the Frenzy and Rumble boxes by the way, they both have extra bio information on them seeing as how they are really two characters in one!
NO MORE than meets the eye!

August 13, 2008 : Curse You Ultra Magnus
Why is it every time I hear the name Ultra Magnus I think of Mucus, they should call him Ultra Mucus. So I worked on getting him all ready to hit previews today. I have done so many of these ads that it doesn’t take much time at all. Unless…. Unless he is in San Diego and your boss took the pictures, and he has never worked on Transformers before and didn’t shoot any of the poses you needed. I spent some time trying to figure out how to get the ad to look just like the others when indeed I did not have all the shots I needed. I always shoot the transformers starting from the front and rotating one eighth the way around and shooting again, and so on until I make my way back around to the front, each ad contains about four shots, and each box contains about 6-7 different shots. It will be fine and I doubt if anyone will even notice, maybe DST Robert, but the fans more than likely won’t mind so much.
Keep an eye out for Ultra Magnus, he’s pretty Bad-ass,
From the tired fingers of,
DST Jen
August 12, 2008 : One More Day…
Dear Readers,
Everyone who was cool enough to get to go San Diego will be back tomorrow, I have missed them all dearly… Who am I kidding, it was nice and quiet here and I can’t complain too much. Today was a whirlwind of more packing for our move, getting Transformers packaging done and anticipating what DST Chuck is bringing me back from the Con!
If you’re interested in the Transformers box that was almost finished today, it was the three-piece Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreak Toy Rocket exclusives. There are three Transformers that will all share one box, they get stickers so you know which one you’re getting. Otherwise I think I’m going to work on Elita-One tomorrow.
Sar Ya!
July 21, 2008 : Transformers Busts: Bringing Life to the Static
The design and development team are wrapping up the last couple of Transformers busts for 2008 and without revealing who they are, all I can say is that these 2 are leaders in the fan favorites category. This final piece for the year marks the 31st bust in the series and we at DST would like to thank all the fans and retailers for your support of the line. Thirty one pieces is definitely a milestone for any product line, let alone high end collectible busts.
To mark this milestone we would like to take time to discuss some of the design decisions in designing the Transformers busts and some features we incorporated in up in coming busts.
