December 5, 2011 : It’s a Mini World After All: Send Us Your Minimate Travel Photos!

Real Ghostbusters Minimates at Hook & Ladder #8 (The Ghostbusters Firehouse), North Moore Street, New York.
While Minimates have a primarily North American fan base, collectors the world over have discovered the joys of the highly poseable 2-inch mini-figures from Diamond Select Toys. To show how far and wide that joy has spread, we want you to send in your photos! Take a picture of a Minimate in front of a famous attraction — or a scenic vista only found in your area — and post it on our Facebook page. Better yet, take it on vacation with you! Mount Rushmore! The Great Pyramids! The Kremlin! The Gateway Arch! Mount Fuji! One winner a month will get spotlighted our newsletter as well as on Minimates.com, so be sure to tell us your name and where you shot the photo, and we’ll also contact you to send you a cool prize! We’ll post them as long as we keep getting them, so there’s no time limit, but don’t let someone else beat you to the best attractions! (Note: All submitted photos become the property of Diamond Select Toys.)

August 10, 2011 : Select Your Shot! The Marvel and Universal Select Photo Contest Starts Now!

The Minimates fans have had their shot, now Select fans get to take theirs! The official Diamond Select Toys Marvel and Universal Select photo contest starts today, and goes until next Thursday, August 18! The grand prize winner gets a set of Captain America and Red Skull Marvel Select movie figures, and three runners-up will also get a rare Marvel or Universal Select figure. Here’s the rules:
- Take a photo in which one or more Marvel Select or Universal Select figures is the central character. You can mix them up or stick with one property, and you may use other Diamond Select toy lines in the background, but all of the figures and accessories in the photo should be from Diamond Select Toys. No toys or accessories from other toy companies will be allowed.
- Shots can be indoors, outdoors, on miniature sets, on human-sized sets, whatever. But they should be in focus, and you should be able to tell what’s going on in them.
- Photoshop is allowed for touch-ups or to duplicate a character, but not to alter the character extensively. Word balloons are allowed, but the photo will be primarily judged on its visuals, not any spoken dialogue.
- Photos should be at least 4 by 6 inches at 72 dpi (288×432 pixels). They can be vertical or horizontal.
- Post your photo on the Diamond Select Toys Facebook wall at http://www.facebook.com/diamondselecttoys between now and August 18th at 9 AM EST.
- Only one entry is allowed per person, so make sure your best shot is on the wall come Thursday morning.
- The winner will get a set of Captain America and Red Skull movie-based Marvel Select action figures. Three runners-up will also be chosen to receive special/rare Marvel or Universal Select figures or figure prototypes.
- By submitting the photograph to the contest, you give us permission to publish them on our Website.

He’ll be getting Minimates from every line we make for his shot of Captain America and the Red Skull brawling, above! We’ll also send swag to the three runners-up — Don Brosius, Philip Mailloux and Brad Martin — but there were so many great shots we had to share some of them here!

December 19, 2008 : I am a Figure, and my name is Anakin…
Dear Fellow Star Wars Fanatics!
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh , oh my gosh… He’s here he’s really here! The UQS Anakin has made his way to my desk and I took lots of great photos of him for the blog gallery. Keep your eyes peeled because he is just as awesome as the others have been. I couldn’t wait to get this guy, although in the movies Hayden Christensen doesn’t really do it for me, the character himself is really deep and super involved, I love the twisted and tortured one’s! The eyes are great on this sculpt, I kept catching myself really focusing in on them when taking the pictures. The hair is also spot on, I was skeptical that the hair would come out perfect but it did and I almost with it were real hair and not resin. Enough gushing, Anakin is here and he is awesome, I can’t wait to share him with all of you!

December 10, 2008 : The Borg Bog
Dear Readers,
I spent the better part of the other day here trying to get our fog machine to work, why is it whenever I want to use something like that it is always broken, or missing a piece, or I have no idea how to use it in the first place! After a few hours of fooling around with it I finally got it working so that I could set up a borg shoot with DST-Matt. We wanted some cool pictures of the borg with dark, creepy lighting and fog. It looked like the borgs where either standing in a swamp bog or maybe had just put out an electrical fire with a few fire extinguishers. I think the shoot was successful, they are definitely interesting pictures, who knows where we might be able to use them! Well I am going to pass them a long and hopefully get a gallery up here on the site for you guys to enjoy.
Cough Cough*
